Cleaners in Reading & Berkshire
Home, rental and workplace cleaning across central Reading, Caversham, Tilehurst, Whitley, Southcote, Earley and Woodley — planned around a busy town and a big rental market.
Reading is the largest town in Berkshire and the most varied place we work. It sits where the Thames and the Kennet meet, it has one of the busiest railway stations outside London, a university on its south-eastern edge, a large office market and a rental sector to match — and its housing runs from Victorian terraces near the centre to new apartment blocks beside the station.
Berkshire EcoClean provides regular and one-off home cleaning, end of tenancy and student house cleaning, landlord and HMO turnarounds, and out-of-hours office cleaning across Reading and its suburbs, with DBS-checked, insured teams and eco-friendly cleaning products used as standard on every visit.

ExploreNew Build & Final Sparkle Cleaning in Reading
Much of Reading's new housing is going up in and around the town centre as part of mixed-use schemes, where homes share a site with offices, shops and public space — Station Hill, next to the station, which is planned to include around 1,300 homes, is the largest example. On sites like that the difficult part of a final sparkle clean is often logistics rather than the cleaning: restricted vehicle access, booked loading slots, other contractors still working in the same building and a busy public realm outside. For developers in Reading, we agree access, parking, welfare and working hours with the site team before the programme starts, so the cleaning fits the site rules rather than testing them.
New build cleaning for developers and housebuildersWhat cleaning in Reading actually involves
A university town with a large rented sector
The University of Reading's main campus is at Whiteknights, and the university says more than 27,000 students study there. A large share of them live in shared houses in the streets around the campus and the town centre, which gives Reading a rental market with an unusually strong annual rhythm: many student houses empty and re-let within the same few weeks each summer.
Shared houses are also a licensing matter here. Most HMOs with five or more occupants need a mandatory licence, and since 1 March 2026 Reading Borough Council's additional licensing scheme has extended licensing to smaller HMOs as well. We do not advise on licensing, but we do see its effect: landlords and agents want void and communal-area cleans documented and dated, and we provide that as a matter of course.
Victorian terraces, riverside suburbs and new apartments
Reading's housing changes quickly from one district to the next. Close to the centre there are streets of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many of them let, where narrow rooms, steep stairs and small kitchens reward a methodical clean more than a quick one. Caversham, north of the Thames, was part of Oxfordshire until Reading absorbed it in 1911, and most of Tilehurst to the west joined the borough at the same time; both are predominantly family-home suburbs.
At the other end of the scale, the town centre has a growing stock of new apartments, with more planned as part of the Station Hill scheme beside the station. Earley and Woodley feel like part of Reading but sit outside the borough boundary in Wokingham Borough — we cover them on exactly the same terms.
A rail interchange, an office market and limited parking
Reading station is served by Great Western Railway, the Elizabeth line, South Western Railway and CrossCountry, and sits 36 miles west of London Paddington. It is described as the second busiest interchange station outside London, which tells you a good deal about the town's working day: a lot of people arrive here to work as well as leave.
That office economy — in the town centre and on business parks such as Green Park — is why most office cleaning in Reading happens outside working hours. The other practical point is parking. Central Reading is busy and on-street space near the centre is limited, so we plan arrival, parking and loading before the visit rather than absorbing a late start.

Eco-friendly products, as standard
Eco-friendly cleaning products and reusable microfibre systems are used on every Reading visit, at no premium — it is the reason the business is called Berkshire EcoClean. They are chosen to be gentler around children, pets and sensitive skin, and are used at the correct dilution and dwell time so results are not compromised.
How long a visit takes
A regular home clean is typically 2–4 hours, a deep clean 4–8 hours and an end of tenancy clean 3–6 hours, depending on property size and condition. Every service page carries its own timings, and we confirm the expected length in writing with your quote.
Local evidence from Reading
We clean throughout Reading every week, but we only publish reviews we have actually received, attributed to the customer who wrote them. We will not invent a Reading testimonial to fill this space. Genuine feedback from your area will appear here as clients leave it — in the meantime, every review we hold is published in full and unedited on our reviews page.
